Activities within the RIS-RECOVER project

Mining tailings and metallurgical landfills can pose a significant risk to the environment due to their quantity and composition, while on the other hand they are useful sources of secondary raw materials, including critical raw materials.

Activities within the RIS-RECOVER project are based on the five-time so-called helix approach to innovation linking industry, research / education, government, public sector and environment, in order to increase regional competitiveness based on the situation in the region and the latest knowledge of the RIS-RECOVER consortium. The innovative approach is based on the zero waste paradigm, which means that once useful raw materials such as critical raw materials (CRM) and metals have been extracted, the remainder can be recycled for use in the construction sector.

The main result will be a regional innovation scheme based on validated data and fact-based data. Such a validated approach will be extended to other parts of the RIS region and to Europe.
