As part of the many activities, the Hydrogeology Department at Civil Engineering Institute Macedonia prepares reports on protection zones for water supply springs.
In 2023, a report was prepared to determine the boundaries of protection zones around the water supply springs of the City of Ohrid, among others. Protection zones, prohibitions, and restrictions, as well as protection measures within the protection zones, are defined in this report.
It is about several springs and wells, where, following the legal regulations, three protection zones have been determined, as follows: first (narrower) protection zone (zone of strict sanitary supervision), second (broad) protection zone (zone of sanitary restrictions) and a third (broader) protection zone (hygienic-epidemiological monitoring and observation zone).
