In the past period, the Design Department signed a contract with Bechtel & Enka for the Design for the construction of the highway section Prilep - Bitola, Corridor 10-d, with a total length of 40 km. The contract refers to 1) Urban Infrastructure Design, 2) Detailed Designs for all phases, and 3) Environmental and Social Aspect Study.
The aim of the Design is to improve the road infrastructure in our country, and the sections in question are part of the Pan-European Transport Corridors VIII (connection between the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea) and X (connection between Austria and Greece).
The Design will act like Fast-track planning, which is a method that allows the construction of sections and parts of the road based on available designs, where there are details for only certain phases or elements of the overall scope of work. This method envisages parallel Design and execution of the works for fast structure implementation. This method foresees design support on the construction site from members of the design team for supervision, expert assistance during construction, and implementation of all required changes and amendments to the design documentation.
